Shillong Revival

Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place

Frequently Asked Questions

As believing adults we have no trouble with ‘useful’ miracles such as healing the blind. It is the ‘absurd’ miracles such as ‘turning water to wine’ or ‘walking on the water’ or ‘withering the fig tree’ or ‘glitter’ falling from the skies that bothers us. Yet God is free to act whenever and however He chooses. He needs no permission from you or me. The big takeout: God is revealing Himself is yet another way. It is not ‘heavenly entertainment’. The purpose is to believe and take action in building the kingdom of God.

Shillong is located in India, in the north east state of Meghalaya. This picturesque and beautiful place has often been called ‘Scotland of the East’. It is situated at an altitude of 4,908 ft above sea level. Rolling hills, mountains, and lakes dot the area. The best way to reach Shillong is to take the train or fly into Guwahati from Kolkotta.  Take a car or bus to Shillong from there.

The word revival is derived from two Latin words, re which means ‘again’ and vivo which means ‘to live’; the literal meaning is ‘to live again’. It is a period of unusual blessing, often accompanied by visions, signs, deliverance and miracles. The fruit of revival is right living and a deep hunger for the things of God.

How can miracles like ‘glitter’ falling happen?

Why is God revealing himself to children?

No one can say with certainty when Jesus will come again. The Lord himself said that even the angels in heaven do not know the time. (Mark 13:32) We can however see the signs of the times  that His coming is  approaching. (Matt 24:3, Luke 21:7) Jesus said there was be wars, and rumours of war, revolutions, famine, disease, and earthquakes. (Math 24:6-7) Another sign is the restoration of Israel. The original Israel disappeared from the earth for nearly two thousand years, but was re-established in 1948. (see Luke 21:24). Many signs have been fulfilled. The real question for all of us is: are we ready?

When is Jesus coming again?

Luke 2:12 says ‘And this will be a sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped, lying in a manger.’ Jesus was first revealed to us as a vulnerable baby. This continues in our times as well. In this revival too we find that God reveals himself to children, giving visions and dreams. Psalms 8:6a states, ‘Out of the mouth of babes You have ordained strength.’
