Eyewitness - How revival hit Jaintia schools

05 Nov 2006

We were visited by Chaprang Passah, brother of Andrew Passah, who works in HSBC Bangalore, over this weekend. He gave us his birds eye view on how revival hit some of the schools in Jowai. We saw some of the earliest footage of the revival as Chaprang was on the scene within an hour in the rural area of “Mynso”, approx. 30 kms from Jowai, the largest town in the Jaintia hills.

And it was not in any church, but in a school – The Government Senior Basic School, with classes from Std 5 to Std 10!!! With the “morning assembly” just behind them, students and teachers were preparing for the upcoming Teacher’s Day programme. And then inexplicably, 3 or 4 students in Std 7 started singing worship songs. It was about half past 10 in the morning. Before teachers could do anything about this, the spirit of worship & prayer went from one class to another, engulfing the entire school in an extremely short time. Approximately 70% of the small school was impacted, with about 50 to 60 children experiencing this 1st revival encounter. The principal of the school tried to contact the pastor and elders from the local church. But it so happened that all of them were away at Jowai. Thus it was that help was called from Jowai & my friend, Chaprang, who runs a cable news outfit there, thus came to be at Mynso within an hour of the revival having broken out. The revival was at its peak at this time and even parents who went to watch were falling down under the power of the Holy Spirit. Other pastors and elders from nearby came to do whatever they could.

By lunch break, the revival wave had swept 2 more schools – The Mynso Government Secondary School and Lyngdoh Memorial Upper Primary School. In both schools about 20 children were affected by the revival wave, and were crying and praying similar to their counterparts in the first school.

On 31st August, while practicing singing for the upcoming Teacher’s Day programme, 1 student from STD 7 in Thadlaboh Presbyterian School started singing a worship song and before you knew it, the revival wave had swept over the whole school, with students worshiping and singing and weeping and praying. The school declared a holiday for the rest of the day.

On 1st of September the revival wave moved powerfully over 7 more schools in Jowai. These were: KGP Hr Sec School; Che Star Sec School; Dist Presbyterian School; Presbyterian Proceeding School; Presbyterian Sec School; Govt Hr Sec School; and Presbyterian Khihmoosniang Elementary School.

On Teacher’s Day, 5th September, as was the custom, the Inspector of Schools in Jowai had arranged for all the schools to gather together for a programme in the District Library Auditorium. As part of cable news coverage, Chaprang was recording this event, when he heard that revival had swept Kiangnangbah Govt College in Jowai. This was the first college to be thus touched in Jowai. And the revival continues in the Jaintia hills to this date. News I received just yesterday is that the wave is no longer confined to just youngsters, but adult men and women are being powerfully touched as well now!

News from Poksheh -

Neil Nongkynrih

02 Nov 2006

Neil Nongkynrih called in to say that there continues to be a steady and mighty move of the Holy Spirit in and around their home. A young adult was set free from a suicidal spirit. Another young girl who came into the home loudly weeping, was released in her spirit from a deep sorrow and she left feeling healed and peaceful.   Another case was that of a husband who on the verge of deciding to separate from his wife, happened to come to this home. Neil prayed for him and for his situation and relationship with his wife. The husband came back twice more for prayer in the following days, as he found it immensely helpful. The third time he returned with his wife. Since there were many others in the home at the time, Neil wanted to keep the incident private; but the man himself wept loudly and shared with all those gathered there about what God had done for them.

Another young girl in her early twenties who is ill with a serious medical condition, came for prayer for courage to face her future. She was ministered to powerfully by the Holy Spirit and left without any fear. A young Khasi boy saw the house surrounded by Angels. This was at a time when Neil and his choir were praying and there was a tremendous spirit of prayer felt by the whole group gathered there.

Man gives chase to Angels during sighting
28 Oct 2006

Last night we listened to an audio recording of an angel sighting that occurred at Shillong at the home of Pauline Warjri’s parents.

Keith, who is Barkos and Pauline’s son along with a dozen other saw angels. Keith, who is not a believer, described that he saw three angels. ‘Each wing had a span of 10 feet and the body was as big as a large car. I gave chase to them but they were too fast.’

Angels video received at shillongrevival.com
28 Oct 2006

Readers will recall that thousands saw angels at Smit village outside Shillong. During this time one of the elders used his cell phone to capture the action. This video was received and previewed by us.

By and large they look like fast moving bodies of light, with no distinguishable features. There is literally no other way to describe it. However in one remarkable moment a large angel, was taken on camera and in slow motion you can see what looks like wings.

Heavens Open—Angels
seen by thousands at
Smit

22 Oct 2006

Received from Barkos Warjri

On 19 October, 2006 thousands saw angels in Smit, which is head of the traditional Khasi Kingship of Khyriem. This occurred towards the end of the bible study meeting which was attended by 2500 people. Earlier during the meeting there had been a prophecy that God would do wonderful things that night.

At around 9 p.m. commotion broke out when people saw scores of angels. The people outside had seen a bright light like lightning. The heavens towards the north seem to part and all saw what looked like hills, and then a rainbow (it is 9 pm at night). Then there were screams and shouts like, ‘Here, here’ ‘There, on the right’. There were angels all around. People fell down in fear and shock. Some walking on the road dropped to their knees

Outpouring of Holy Spirit at Nongkrem

19 Oct 2006

Shillongonline.com (please do visit their website) reported that hundreds of people, mostly children were affected by the Revival, the unusual outpouring of the Holy Spirit mostly believed by the followers of the Presbyterian Church, during the three-day final Centenary celebration of Nongkrem Presbyterian Church at Nongkrem village on Sunday.

The children collapsed, lost consciousness during the unusual phenomenon and regained their senses after prayers were organised. Most of the affected children claimed to have experienced the world where there is love and angels worshipping Jesus Christ during the phenomenon.

Speaking to a group of reporters on Sunday, member of the Gospel Thunder Team, Mr Ramtea said that the spreading of Revival among the followers of the Presbyterian Church in Khasi and Jaintia Hills is a blessing for the Presbyterian Church in particular and to all people.

"The spread of the Revival would definitely change the life of many individuals who are influenced by the materialistic world and realise that everything in this world is temporary except for the love and  blessing of God, which is everlasting," Mr Ramtea said.

He said the affect of Revival in Khasi and Jaintia in comparison to the Revival in Mizoram is totally different while informing that in Mizoram people do not shiver or fall into unconsciousness. However, it works within the heart of an individual, he said.

Angel Glitter received by shillongrevival.com

18 October 2006
Readers will recall that Chrisleen Dkhar, daughter of Mrs. A.D. Dkhar former Chairperson of MPSC (Meghalaya Public Service Commission) had a spectacular visitation. This website had reported her story earlier where she had sighted a luminous cloud in the form of an angel pouring ‘something’ over her house in Shillong as she walked back. When she entered the house, she saw ‘Angel Glitter’ had fallen in all the rooms, through the roof. One room that was locked had glitter that lay thick on the floor, so much so that she could gather it. For three days her house was swamped with literally hundreds of people.

Chrisleen has given some of the Angel Glitter, and the visitors have given a very small sample in turn to this website. It is however too little for laboratory analysis.

Powerful Move of the Holy Spirit at KJP Synod Retreat at Sohkymphor

16 October 2006

The Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod (East) held the Pastor’s Retreat at the village of Sohkymphor, in Jaintia Hills District, from 13th October to 15th October 2006. The revival fervour affected many who attended the open Sunday service on the 15th October.

The Holy Spirit touched many who attended this service, which started at 10.30 am. No distinction was made, whether it was church leaders, mothers, children or youth; all were touched. The whole congregation was gripped by the power of the Holy Spirit so that people broke out into singing, praying, weeping and repentance and the service continued the whole day into the night without any break. Young and old, clergy and laymen, were all bound together in the common desire to praise God and to repent of their sins asking God for help towards a renewed life.

This was the first time that this church had been affected by the revival fervour even several neighbouring churches had picked up the spirit of revival earlier.
